Freelance VA Newbie? Character and Commitment

Updated: May 18, 2019

Freelance, VA, Newbie, Character, Commitment,

What is a Freelance VA?

A Freelance VA or a virtual assistant is someone who can remotely provide different services such as data entry, research works, scheduling, social media management or marketing, etc. to businesses or other professionals.

The most common reason why they need to have one is time. Instead of getting buried with paper works, invoices, spending time updating your social media accounts, answering customers queries, emails, or even phone calls, a virtual assistant can do all that and more for businesses and other professionals while they can get busy doing what really is important, and that is to get the business growing.

Freelance Newbie need not worry.

I always see online job postings for experienced virtual assistants. This is reasonable, they would usually hire someone with at least a year or two of experience with the same expertise or experience in related tasks to save time and cost for basic training and all startup processes. If you’re the one looking for help, of course, you'd also like assistance coming from experts rather than hiring a VA newbie that needs to be trained. Right?

Freelance newbie, need not be discouraged tho. While most clients look to hire experienced VA, there are still some companies and clients who give chances to inexperienced aspiring virtual assistants like us. Tho, they will still require you to have at least basic skills and bits of knowledge about virtual tasks. Like you should know how to communicate in English written and verbally, must know basic data entry, or at least knows how to type, confident in using computers and the internet since this is a virtual world. Basic photo editing, and other basic admin skills. Again do not worry. It’s less complicated than it sounds. Most basic skills you already have and knew from college days and or from your past work experiences. You just have to know what it is. Know what you love doing, and know what you are good at.

Character and Commitment

What matters? Your character and commitment, this matters. The point is; though you’re a VA newbie... you can still brave the freelance industry. Though you don't know where to start, there’s a lot of ways you can learn. It’s a matter of perspective, on how you see things. The process will test your character; rejections after rejections, learning after learning and you must be ready. You must be committed to learn and continue with the process. Be committed to yourself and commit to what you want. It’s a matter of character and commitment to what you want to achieve. How decided and how far you are willing to go and do to achieve it. Your character and commitment… These matters.

Still Clueless on how to start as a Freelance VA?

There’s actually a lot of things you can do and a lot of ways you can learn on how to be a freelance VA.
